Ward 1
Growth that works
Oshawa is developing rapidly. Ward 1 needs infrastructure that keeps pace — and a councillor at both the City and Regional tables.
About Ward 1
Ward 1 covers a growing part of Oshawa, taking in established neighbourhoods, new residential development, and rural and farming communities including hamlets such as Columbus.
New communities need proper infrastructure in place before owners move in. Traffic signs, sidewalks and school bus stops are safety necessities, not finishing touches. Several main arteries are routinely congested with day-to-day traffic, and need urban planning solutions that relieve the problem rather than defer it.
The City’s official description of Ward 1
“Consisting of the area bounded on the north by the city’s northern limits, on the east by the city’s eastern limits, on the south by Taunton Rd. and Highway 407 and on the west by Ritson Rd. and the city’s western limits.”

Am I in Ward 1?
Use the City of Oshawa’s official address lookup. It is authoritative, and it is the only place we will send you.
Why we don’t ask for your address
This campaign will not collect residents’ addresses simply to tell them which ward they live in. The City already provides that, for free, without anyone having to hand their address to a candidate. We only ask for an address when there is a practical reason — delivering and collecting a lawn sign you requested.

Who is responsible for what?
Oshawa residents get one property-tax bill, but two levels of municipal government. Knowing which one handles a problem is often the fastest route to getting it fixed — and it is why a Regional and City Councillor seat matters.

Some matters sit with neither: provincial highways, school boards and conservation authorities are separate again. Where that is the case, Nadea’s commitment is to say so plainly and point residents to the body that can actually act.
Projects in and around Ward 1
A project being studied is not a project that is funded, and neither is a project that is built. This page will always say which stage something has reached.
Growth in Ward 1 looks like this: finished homes, framing and servicing on the same street. Roads, water and transit have to keep pace with it.
Ritson Road North reconstruction and widening
Durham Region is studying the reconstruction and widening of 1.75 kilometres of Ritson Road North, between Taunton Road and Conlin Road. The Region identifies operational deficiencies, road safety and increasing traffic volumes as reasons for the project.
What Nadea will advocate for
- Roads and intersections that can safely accommodate population growth.
- Better coordination between development approvals and infrastructure delivery.
- Transportation and transit improvements that reflect Ward 1's changing needs.
- Parks, trails, recreation and public spaces alongside new neighbourhood development.
- Safe sidewalks, crossings, traffic-safety measures and pedestrian connections.
- Infrastructure planning that addresses drainage, stormwater and long-term maintenance.
- Meaningful consultation before significant development decisions.
- Public updates on major Ward 1 projects and anticipated timelines.
- Growth balanced with respect for the greenbelt, farming communities and rural hamlets.
Your street, your ward
Share a Ward 1 concern
A blocked sightline, a crossing that feels unsafe, a road that floods, a park that needs attention. Tell Nadea what you see every day — it shapes what she raises at Council.
You do not need to give your address. If your concern is about a specific location, just describe where it is.
